My name is Laura and I live in the great state of Maine, U.S.A. I haven’t always lived here; I’ve actually moved around quite a bit. I grew up in southern New York and then jumped to upstate New York, Connecticut, Florida, and finally landed in Maine. Moving around so much hasn’t exactly been easy, but it sure has opened my eyes to how beautiful and interesting so many different parts of our country can be.
Back in 2017, I decided to create a photography and art-related website to coincide with my strong love for both of these mediums. I currently hold a bachelor’s degree in art history and biology and have found myself becoming somewhat of an obsessively self-educated amateur photographer, beginning about a decade ago. I’ve always loved both of these areas of the creative world and today, I consider my life to revolve around them.
Since the inception of the blog, I have also become interested in perfecting my cooking skills. This endeavor has allowed me to dabble with food photography. If you like to eat well and try new things, I invite you to join me as I live and learn in the culinary world. I also have a particular fondness for ornithology and enjoy photographing the avian world. When I wake up in the morning, I immediately think about what the day will bring and how I can immerse myself into this little corner of the universe even further.
So, what exactly is this website about? Well, when I first created it, I thought about simply sharing some of my photography in gallery format. I thought I’d create a few posts as a place to display what I enjoy doing. As the months passed though, I realized that a blog such as this would be the perfect venue to share some of my stories, primarily through my photography. I didn’t want this blog to be reliant on words, as I thought my pictures would do the talking. As it turns out, my writing is beginning to blend into my posts as well. I knew my wordless strategy wouldn’t last very long. I found myself sharing my experiences in a much more linear way, via text and images.
Today, I not only post about my photography and my experiences, but I also share others’ as well. I am becoming somewhat addicted to finding others like me and trying to learn as much as I can about them. If you’ll notice, my Interviews category is filling up fast. The interviewing aspect of my days may very well be my favorite. I find discovering how others do what I try to do fascinating and I learn so much from their success. Each and every interview I have conducted has taught me something and I hope to continue on this path for a very long time.
Regarding where I live, New England truly is a wonder of the world. The area has so much to offer almost any type of photographer. From the enormous mountains of Western Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont to the coastline of Downeast Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, there really is so much here. I find myself overwhelmed by all the opportunities at times and I really do have trouble deciding on where to go next. I usually end up straightening things out though, so that’s a plus.
Please enjoy yourself while browsing my website. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into it and I hope you find something you like. I’m quite active with adding new content, so don’t be shy with checking back. Also, if you’d like to follow me on YouTube. Thanks!
