Garter snakes can be found in a variety of habitats including, forests, woodlands, grasslands, and lawns.

Garter snakes feed on earthworms, slugs, leeches, frogs, toads, salamanders, lizards, fish, rodents, and sometimes eggs as well.

Garter snakes are viviparous (To give birth to live young) and can have up to eighty young.

Garter snakes can be active day or night and throughout the year, including warm winter days.
