Our last stop in North Conway entailed a visit to the Christmas Loft located on 2028 White Mountain Highway, New Hampshire. There are two of these stores in New Hampshire. The other store is located in North Woodstock. If you are one of those people filled with the Christmas spirit all year, this is the place for you. It is Christmas every day at the Christmas Loft. The store is open seven days a week and filled with all sorts of holiday decorations.

This is the wonderful sight that awaits you as you enter the store. The store really puts a lot of effort into getting its visitors geared up for the holidays. This place reminds of Handleman’s Garden Center in White Plains, New York. I used to go there as a kid during the holidays in the eighties. Handleman’s is now long gone, but in its day it was something else. We lived in an apartment at the time, so we didn’t have much use for a garden center. Not until December that is. The month of December is when Handleman’s would turn into a Christmas wonderland. The store sold real and fake Christmas trees, as well as all kinds of decorations. They also had a similar setup as the Christmas Loft with a pathway leading through a Christmas village in the store. We used to love seeing all of the special holiday decorations and animals set up in the fake snow. We also enjoyed the holiday music playing in the background. At the end of the pathway, visitors would have a chance to visit Santa. This was my least favorite part of our visits. Even as a kid, I knew that the man wearing the costume really wasn’t Santa. I never liked not being able to see who was behind that beard. This also went for clowns and people dressed up at the Disney Theme Parks. I still feel the same way. The whole thing just freaks me out!
After making our way through the pathway from the entrance of the Christmas Loft, we were greeted by a wonderful Christmas village. The village had a holiday theme that also included various landmarks around the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The store was situated in a way that the village served as the heart of the store. The surrounding rooms were filled with holiday decorations for sale.

The Christmas Loft had a wide variety of Christmas ornaments. I took photographs of the ornaments that I liked or found amusing.

My favorite section of the store turned out to be the wide variety of nutcrackers on display. I have always wanted one of these guys and perhaps I am holding out for an authentic nutcracker from Germany. I wonder if my fondness for this Christmas staple comes from my German side.

I had wanted to visit New England for many years and my wish came true 20 years ago when we stayed in North Conway and returned 12 years ago., never being disappointed with the stunning scenery of mountains and waterfalls, taking a trip on the cog railway . Zeb’s store, Christmas Hotel in Jackson and of course the Christmas store , being big fans of all things Christmas.
We live in Cornwall England.

Hello, Susan, Thank for your comment and I, too, enjoyed my visit to North Conway. The area offers so much during every season. One day, I would like to visit your neck of the woods as well. I’m sure you are looking forward to Christmas this year and before you know it, the holiday season will be upon us once again! Enjoy, Laura
