A White-throated Sparrow Enjoying a New Year and New Snow in Western Maine

January 1, 2016 Leave a Comment

The white-throated sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis), belongs to the Passeriformes order and the American sparrow family Emberizidae. This attractive bird is not only known for its attractive markings, but for its distinctive song. Their song can be heard frequently during the spring breeding season, as well as the winter. This white-throated sparrow was taking a break from singing to feed on some bird seed and enjoy our new snow of the new year.
